Gao Xiqing, born in 1953, is a former President and Chief Investment Officer of China Investment Corporation, one of China’s sovereign wealth fund.
Gao obtained his master's degree in law from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, and a JD from Duke University in the USA. He became the first Chinese citizen ever to pass the New York State Bar Exam. His long professional career began at the Wall Street, where he worked as an associate at Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon, that is the Richard Nixon’s (the 37th President of the USA) former law firm.
He later served as director of the Public Offerings Department of the China Securities Regulatory Commission until 1995, from 1997 until 1999 he agreed to become Deputy Chief Executive at the HK-Macao Regional Office of the Bank of China. After that, he served as Vice-Chairman of the National Council of the Social Security Fund from 2003 - 2007. Gao remained loyal to one of his Alma Mater, serving as a member of the Duke University Board of Trustees.
