David Friday works as a journalist and educator in Prague, where he's been living for more than 15 years. He is originally from Ontario, Canada. In Prague, he is a lead writer for Building World, a quarterly journal centred on the Czech and Slovak markets and a recognized comprehensive source of real estate information. Frequent topics of coverage are land development and architecture, investment, city evolution, and the influence of macroeconomic and consumer trends in the real estate market. He also contributes to the internationally recognized UK-based media service Mergermarket, as part of the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, Africa) region stringer team.
During his time in Prague he has contributed to several publications, with varied target markets and readerships, including the The Prague Post, a weekly newspaper for the city's English speaking community, The Prague Tribune, a monthly business/lifestyle magazine in two languages, Estates News, Europe's first dedicated CEE real estate periodical, and others. He also contributed to Warsaw-based Eurobuild CEE, becoming the publication's launching country manager for the Czech and Slovak markets when it began broader CEE coverage from its Warsaw head office. David also lectures at Prague College, a local affiliate of Teesside University, in their journalism program.
Before coming to Prague David lived in Ottawa while he worked as a lecturer and researcher at Kemptville College. He also worked at the Ottawa School of Applied Art, becoming part of efforts to raise its public profile. He held several volunteer board and committee positions, including acting as Vice Chair, Ottawa, at the Canadian Cancer Society, and was a member of an appointed committee of the Canadian Cancer Society on the provincial level aimed at improving legibility of public education materials. David holds a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Queen's University in Ottawa.
